If you visit Wisconsin Lutheran College this time of year, you will see candles burning brightly in many of the windows throughout campus. Our hearts are warmed by this beautiful campus Christmas scene as it is an illustration of how our Newborn King beams radiantly in the darkness of our broken world. WLC faculty, staff, and students walk boldly in the light of our Savior not just at Christmas, but each and every day.

One such student is Mandy Abernathy ’21, who enthusiastically carries out her studies with a passion to help others and to develop as a Christian servant leader. Mandy is pursuing a unique double major combination of mathematics and biology, and credits WLC’s quality Christ-centered liberal arts education and real-world internship experiences with preparing her for graduate school and a future career in computational biology or mathematical modeling.

Mandy knows that being a Christian servant leader isn’t just a title: “I view servant leadership as being a role model. With God’s help, I strive to live the best Christian life that I can, so that others can learn by my example.”
